What we collect
- Your email address, if you create an account, to sign you in and to send account and billing emails.
- Your essays and questions, to produce feedback and show your history.
- Plan and payment status: which plan you have, when it renews, and receipts from our payment processor. Card details go to the payment processor, never to us.
- Usage data: pages viewed, the site that referred you, your country (from your IP address), a hashed IP address for abuse limits, and a random visitor ID stored in your browser.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores data.
- AI providers: your question and essay are sent to DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com), OpenRouter (openrouter.ai, which routes to OpenAI models) and apimodels.app to produce feedback. The first available provider is used; we don't send your email address to them.
- Waffo Pancake processes payments and subscriptions as our Merchant of Record.
- An email provider (Resend or Postmark) sends sign-in links.
These providers may process data outside your country: DeepSeek in China, and the others mainly in the United States.
We don't sell your data, don't show ads, and don't use your essays to train AI models.
How long we keep it
Essays and feedback stay in your history until you delete them. Essays checked without an account are kept for 90 days. Usage statistics are kept for up to 2 years. Payment records are kept as required for tax and accounting.
Cookies
When you're signed in we set a sign-in cookie and a small cookie that tells our pages you're signed in. A cookie that lasts one minute may note that you arrived from another site, for our visitor statistics. Your browser's local storage keeps a random visitor ID and the essay you're typing, so a refresh doesn't lose it. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can delete any essay, or all of them, from your account. You can also ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or delete your account, by emailing support@bandscorechecker.com from the address you signed in with. We reply within 30 days. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The service is not meant for children under 13.
