These terms apply when you use bandscorechecker.com ("Band Score Checker", "we"). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
1. The service
Band Score Checker gives AI-generated feedback on essays written for IELTS-style Writing Task 2: an estimated band for each of the four marking criteria, the main problems, and, with a paid plan, sentence-level corrections, vocabulary suggestions and a rewritten version of your essay. Feedback is produced by third-party large language models (DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com), OpenRouter (openrouter.ai, which routes to OpenAI models) and apimodels.app). It is an estimate for practice, not an official score, and it can contain mistakes.

2. Accounts
You can get one free check a day without an account. A free account needs only your email address; we send you a sign-in link instead of using a password. Keep access to your email secure, because anyone who can open the link can sign in. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to make payments where you live if you buy a plan.
3. Free use
Without an account you get 1 check a day; with a free account, 3 checks a week. Free checks show every band score and the main problems. We may change free limits at any time.
4. Plans and prices
- Monthly: $7.99 per month, renews every month until cancelled.
- Yearly: $29.99 per year, renews every year until cancelled.
- 30-day pass: $9.99, one payment for 30 days of access. It does not renew.
Paid access includes full feedback and up to 30 checks in any 24 hours (a limit that protects the service from abuse). Prices are in USD; taxes are calculated at checkout. Payments are processed by our Merchant of Record, Waffo Pancake, which may appear on your card statement.
5. Automatic renewal
When you start a monthly or yearly plan, you authorise Waffo Pancake to charge your payment method at the start of every billing period, at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. You'll get a reminder email before each renewal: 3 days before a monthly renewal and 7 days before a yearly one. If we ever change the price of your plan, we'll email you at least 30 days before the new price applies, and you can cancel before then. If a renewal payment fails, the payment is retried once; if it fails again, the subscription ends.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your account page (Manage subscription), without contacting us. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep paid access until the end of the current period.
7. Refunds
Email us within 7 days of your first payment for a full refund if the paid feedback isn't useful to you. Renewals charged by mistake can be refunded within 7 days if you haven't used the paid feedback since. Full details are in the refund policy.
8. Your essays
You keep all rights to what you write. You give us permission to store your essays and send them to our AI providers only to produce your feedback and show you your history. We don't publish your essays or use them to train AI models. You can delete any essay, or all of them, from your account.
9. Acceptable use
Don't use the service to get around its limits (for example with many accounts or automated requests), to submit content that is illegal or infringes someone else's rights, to attack or overload the site, or to resell the feedback as your own service. The full rules are in our acceptable use policy, which is part of these terms. We may suspend accounts that break them.
10. No guarantee of results
The service is provided "as is". AI estimates can differ from the score an examiner would give, and we don't promise any particular test result.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects a paid plan, we'll tell you by email before it applies.
